What we collect
We collect the information you provide when creating an account (email address), information you enter about your child's IEP or 504 plan, communication logs you create, uploaded documents, and contact information for school staff you add.
How we use your data
Your data is used solely to provide the IEP Binder service to you. We do not sell your data. Supabase processes data as our database, authentication, private file-storage, and private vector-index provider. Optional Vertex AI features are disabled unless the operator completes the required configuration. If available, you choose whether to prepare a text-based document and confirm each explanation or chat request. The app extracts document text locally, attempts to redact the student's name, email addresses, and phone numbers, and sends the redacted text to Google Cloud Vertex AI to create a private search index. During chat, it sends relevant document excerpts, recent behavior and support records for the selected child, and recent on-screen chat turns. Original document files are not sent to Vertex AI. Automated redaction can miss information. The app does not save chat prompts or answers to the child's record.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored using Supabase on AWS infrastructure. Supabase provides encryption in transit and at rest, and Pocket Binder uses row-level access controls for app records. Authorized service operators may access data only when needed to operate, secure, or support the service.
Children's privacy
IEP Binder is designed for parents and guardians 18 years of age and older. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The information you enter about your child is stored under your account and is accessible only to you.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile section of the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
